Actually the small town where we live in WV (actually we are just outside of town on 14 acres) was an oil boom town.So many people lived here at one time that they lived any where they could find tent room. I am in the real estate business and I want a detector that would be good for finding rebar steel corner markers. (It would also be nice to use it for "coin shooting") I am a token colector. I usually do my hunting at flea markets etc. but I think it would be fun to look in the ground. I have 1 token from Ruby. Dorwin & Co.// GOOD FOR 12½ IN TRADE. W.J. Dorwin & Co. had a soloon in Ruby in 1893. I also have 2 tokens from the DUCK BRAND SALOON in Winthrop. Please e-mail me if you have any ideas of a good choice for a metal detector for my use. My father-in-law, Otto "Dutch" Wilmer was a ferryman at Ruby, WA prior to the 1930's. We met many friendly wonderful people who made our visit one of most memorable of our lives. We were amazed to meet 4 people who actually knew my father-in-law who left Washington nearly 70 years ago. Can you imagine how excited we were to meet these individuals, none of whom we knew about before arriving in Newport! The country is absolutely beautiful. If any people in your circle of friends or acquaintenances happened to know "Dutch" Wilmer or would have any photos of him taken during his years in Washington, we would like very much to communicate with them as my wife, Marie, has been asked to write a history of Dutch for the Pend Oreille Co.
